Matt Skiba is the lead singer of Alkaline Trio. He has previously been a member of various bands including Jerkwater, Blunt, and The Traitors. In 2002, Skiba recorded a split EP with Kevin Seconds called Split.
Born in Chicago, he moved to the suburb of McHenry, Illinois at the age of three. Playing drums at an early age, his first concert was Public Image Ltd.. he cites Joey Ramone and Social Distortion as huge influences. An original member of the Trio (they have suffered two lineup changes with the addition of bassist Dan Andriano and drummer Derek Grant), Matt has also been part of various punk rock bands such as Blunt, The Traitors and Jerkwater. He worked as a bike messenger when the band was starting out, before moving to San Francisco. He now resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Monica, whom he married on August 8th, 2005. The new album, "Crimson", is out May 23rd 2005.
